The E-Taiwanese Automobile Industry Theme House showed a significant growth in both the number of exhibiting manufacturers and the exhibition area. Featuring “E practices around the world”, three areas are dedicated to displaying manufacturing systems, management systems and business systems integrated in accordance with the value chain of the automobile manufacturing industry. There are also displays of E service bus, symbolizing the integrity and rapid service of products displayed in the E Theme House. The E-Taiwanese Automobile Industry Forum will invite IT manufacturers with practical experience to talk about the Toyota lean production system and successful e solutions. After the forum, group trade meetings will be arranged to facilitate exchange and interaction, enhance international competitiveness of our domestic auto parts and accessories businesses and accommodate cross-industry integration.

With the theme “Eastern Energy with the World’s Pulse”, TAIFE has invited Mr. Mitsuhiko Yamashita, Vice-President of Nissan and Mr. Young-ill Kim, Vice-President of Hyundai to give keynote speeches. These two speakers are specialists in automotive R&D, innovation, and design and will update participants on the latest trends and give insightful industry perspectives. In addition, under the broader theme of “Harmonious interaction between people, cars, and the environment”, there will be forums on different technological aspects. In addition to more than 10 experts and scholars from Europe, the U.S., and Asia, each forum will also include Taiwanese scholars and industry representatives, who will engage in in-depth exchange and discussions on further advancements in technology to accomplish harmonious interaction between people, vehicles, and the environment.

Taiwan has enjoyed manufacturing and R&D advantages in the auto parts and accessories for decades. To highlight this, AMPA will emphasize the high quality and innovative image of related industries in Taiwan and has also organized the AMPA Innovation Awards. That’s where 38 products from 28 manufacturers have signed up for the awards and 13 products have entered the final stage of the contest, which will be promoted at the Innovative Products Area at the NANGANG Exhibition Hall during the show. Five products will be selected and conferred with Innovation Awards. To provide better services for buyers the organizer will arrange shuttle buses from the exhibition hall to hotels and between the NANGANG Exhibition Hall and Exhibition Hall 1 of TWTC, wireless Internet service in the Exhibition Hall, a stored baggage area, a Muslim prayer room and discussion areas for buyers. In addition, tours with local flavor and historic meaning will be arranged for international buyers so that buyers can relax and enjoy our exotic culture after completing their annual procurements.

The total production value of the automobile industry in Taiwan continues to soar and has become vital to Taiwan. The auto parts and accessories industry, in particular, is one of the most competitive industries of Taiwan’s small and medium enterprises in terms of exports. According to the Custom statistics, export value reached NT$147.9 billion last year (2007) for all auto parts and accessories exported from Taiwan, an 11.29% increase on the previous year. With comprehensive supply chains domestically, compliance with market development trends, enhancement of product quality and value addition, and active market decentralization, Taiwanese businesses produce auto parts and accessories that are indispensable in the global market.
